Most companies train people to do a job0:02
Most companies train people to do a job. Great companies train people to build a career. This video is about shifting our mindset around enablement from a day one necessity to a career long advantage because in CX, where burnout and turnover are real risks, enablement is one of the most powerful tools we have to keep employees engaged, growing, and sticking around.
Let's talk about the elephant in the room0:37
Let's talk about the elephant in the room. For years, CX roles have been seen as entry level, high-term positions, but here's the reality in 2026. Support is becoming more strategic. The work is more complex, the tools are more advanced, and the expectations higher than ever. This constant turn doesn't just hurt morale. It kills institutional knowledge, consistency, and quality. But when you connect enablement to career growth, that changes. You stop being a launchpad and become a destination.
Enablement shouldn't stop after onboarding1:15
Enablement shouldn't stop after onboarding. It should evolve into an ongoing, personalized learning journey. Think about it like this. Month one should be focused on core policies, systems, and tools. Around month three, maybe they take on advanced product scenarios or edge cases. Around month six, they could participate in deep dives into behavioral coaching, QA analysis, or participate in pilot programs.
And maybe around the year one mark, they could do cross training, contribute to special projects like collaborating with the product team, voice of the customer studies or process improvements, and act as an internal mentor. This structure helps reps, build expertise and transferable skills, feel seen by leadership, and plan their next move within the org. If you want people to stay, show them a future.
A powerful way to connect enablement to growth is2:15
A powerful way to connect enablement to growth is skill-based leveling, here's how it works. Instead of vague titles like junior agent and senior agent, you build clear levels based on capabilities, not just time served. An example, CX level one. They handle tier one tickets, follow macros accurately, complete all onboarding modules, and consistently have a QA score of 85% or higher. Then CX level two, they handle escalated tier two issues or edge cases. They flag process improvements or issues.
They coach peers informally and maintain a C set score of 90% or higher. And then CX level three, which maybe in your org is a lead. They mentor new hires, lead feedback loops with product, surface journey gaps, participate in QA calibration. This type of system creates clarity, fairness, and motivation, and makes performance reviews feel like growth conversation.
Not everyone wants to be a people leader, and that's okay3:22
Not everyone wants to be a people leader, and that's okay. Great enablement programs offer multiple growth tracks, such as support to trainer or enablement lead for reps who love coaching and documentation, support to QA analyst or CX ops for those who are drawn to systems, processes and performance insights, support to CX voice or community manager for brand advocates and social thinkers, support to product liaison or CX strategist for the Y thinkers who love customer insights.
The key is to design enablement to feed these paths with shadowing opportunities, internal certifications, cross functional mentorship, or special projects or stretch roles. When reps can see multiple destinations, they're more likely to stay for the journey.
Enablement isn't just training, it's coaching, and coaching4:19
Enablement isn't just training, it's coaching, and coaching isn't just about fixing weaknesses, it's about amplifying strengths. High performing teams used coaching to identify reps superpowers, track development goals alongside KPIs, create 90 day plans with learning outcomes, and align feedback to growth aspirations, not just scorecards. When reps know you're invested in their growth, they invest back.
Let's zoom out for a second4:48
Let's zoom out for a second. In CX we always talk about the customer, but it was taking care of your internal experience. Great enablement supports EX, employee experience, and EX drives higher retention, better CSAT, stronger referrals and healthier culture. When reps feel seen, valued and supported, they deliver experiences that make your brand proud. That's the enablement ROI that no dashboard can fully capture. Training is more than getting people up to speed.
It's about building momentum, confidence, and careers. The best CX orgs don't treat enablement as a department, they treat it as a culture. One where growth is expected, coaching is constant, and learning never stops.
